How Much Have I Missed?

Lima – Monday, November 17, 2008 – 1 comment

Several personal family issues have prevented me from watching, much less blogging, about GG. I finally got a chance to watch an episode tonight and oh my! How much have I missed? really? in like one or two episodes everything has changed. I shouldn’t be this surprised, I know but oh my.

Luckily I totally knew where to go to get an in-depth synopsis, right here. I had my laptop in front of me and instantly punched in that reliable url– gossipgirl.ca and found all the answers I needed.

Ok the most important thing to talk about…Little J’s new hair do, big fat don’t! It’s way too thinned out, choppy and piecey! It doesn’t do her any justice at all. And that new teen queen hits the punk circuit thing is, well, entirely too cliche. Why could she not do rebellion in a chic way? I also had high, perhaps totally unrealistic, hopes that Little J would go out there, on her own, and succeed and make a name for herself, but she had to turn into this little brat instead. Oh well, I guess I’m not surprised. At all.

And poor Mr. Archibald, I hardly think it’s fair that he should be alienated by everyone like that. He made a mistake, the kid’s life is a mess! Let him be. Then again, rationality isn’t really anyone’s forte.

I do kind of like the idea that Father Bass has dosiers on his new family members. Talk about covering your assets! But Serena giving that file over to her new boyfriend to “find out who she really is” eek! Relationship suicide! This show is supposed to be about SECRETS! Sometimes they work out, sometimes they really don’t. But you can’t just lay it all out on the table like that. Haven’t these kids learned anything?

Maybe not.

Until next time,
xoxo

Spotted: Willful Muse at a local Starbucks!!!

Willful Muse – Monday, November 10, 2008 – 2 comments

Hey there Gossip Girl Fans, Willful Muse here. your one of many sources into the scandalous lives of Manhattan’s elite.

Spotted: Willful Muse was spotted at a local Starbucks enjoying a steaming venti-sized cup of Signature Hot Chocolate, busying typing away at her laptop.

Okay, so I’m back almost as good as new. My broken arm and knee caps are doing very well actually. Laying off of typing has helped quite a bit, but my addiction to blog isn’t kept away that easily. So I went to the doctor and practically begged her to shorten the length of my cast. And BAAM! It’s done.

I had to promise I would not doing anything to strain my arm though. Oh well, promises are made to be broken, right?

Here’s is the update on the previous Gossip Girl episode:

-Blair somehow ended up being desperate for Chuck.
-Serena is supposedly the key to ruining Blair’s future.
-The two got over it.
-Jenny shows up to Lily’s congratulatory party and totally ruins/livens up the situation by putting on a surprise fashion show, which turns out to be a totaly hit in the papers.
-Obviously, her father isn’t so keen on praising her after what she’s done.
-Jenny kisses Nate.
-Vanessa sees.
-Vanessa leaves, Jenny follows.
-Nate is left standing on his own, where he contemplates his sitaution.
-Nate is declared homeless by Dan.
-Fashion show ends, Jenny feels content.
-Her own father tries to arrest her.
-Lily to the rescue.
-S and B are BFFL in the end.
-Dan decides to write the story about Chuck’s life after all.
-Jenny leaves home with her belongings.

Tsk, tsk.
I must say that this episode was not of the best. Okay so, the two in the catfight about who goes to Yale makes up. The bratty little 15 year old Blair babysits turn out to be a deeply hurt daughter whose mother just doesn’t care. Jenny plans a fashion show with Agnes to crash Lily’s party. Chuck is suddenly the good guy who helps Blair. Dan kicks Nate out of his house, Jenny kisses Nate. Vanessa is pissed about it and goes off on her own. I mean, does this not sound practical to you? BFFs make up, Party is crashed by some teenager, bad guy turns good, a sister kisses her brother’s friend, and the peeved ex-girlfriend of that friend is stomping her way out… to me it doesn’t sound original at all.

Hopefully they show a more thrilling and exciting episode next time.

Will S and Lonely Boy somehow find their way to each other without knowing? And what about the coupling between B and Chuck? Jenny and Nate? What stands in their future? Watch the next episode of Gossip Girl to find out.

Okay GG fans. That’s it for today, I’m afraid.

I will update as soon as possible, but you should doubt it, since I’m usually not myself these days, what with all those pain medications.

You know you love me,

XOXO,

Willful Muse.

Spotted on gossipgirl.ca – a new blogger…

L – Thursday, November 6, 2008 – 1 comment

That’s right; L here – ready to dissect and discuss everything and anything to do with the scandalous lives of Manhattans elite. Part student, part PR professional, and all Gossip Girl fan.  Gossip Girl has become a Sunday night ritual for me, but this wasn’t always the case. Admittedly, I am a relatively new fan, but one who has done her research, caught up on every episode to date and is ready to dish.

Looking to lose my GG blogging v-card, I’ll keep this first post short and sweet…

Is it just me, or is the whole Nate/Jenny storyline a little much? Every time those two locked lips, all that ran through my head was “JAILBAIT! JAILBAIT!” Let’s hope the little love-match ends promptly so this queasiness in my stomach can subside. And while we’re on the subject of Nate Archibald – can anyone tell me who on the show he has yet to hook up with? Better start casting an entire new crew of ladies, because I think the only female left untouched by Nate might be Dorota, Blair Waldorf’s maid.

Till next time GG fans,
L

Go Away Jenny

Taytay – Monday, November 3, 2008 – 3 comments

I hate to say it but I was right. No wait, I love saying that! I WAS RIGHT, I WAS RIGHT, I WAS RIGHT, I WAS RIGHT, I WAS RIGHT.

Jenny has proven herself to be too immature to have left school.

In the real world, do you really think ANYONE would put up with this much of her crap? Crashing an award benefit like that? Personally, I was shocked that anyone was impressed within it…the theme was trite (ooh look at me! I’m punk and rebellious!), the clothes were predictably “out there” (a ruffled skirt! we’ve never seen THAT before!) and the show was just in bad taste (kicking over expensive wine bottles? really?)

Furthermore, where does she get off asking Nate for his support and proof that he likes her? The guy made out with her once, with barely any hint that he liked her before the episode…I think most of you would agree that if this was outside the GG world, it would mean he’s just not that into her.

And of course, our little Jenny runs away instead of facing the consequences of her actions.

Good Riddance.

You know you hate her,

Taytay <3

My Prescriptions for GG

Taytay – Tuesday, October 21, 2008 – 3 comments

I’m not a doctor, I just play one on tv. Actually, I’m just acting like a doctor FOR tv!
After last night’s show, I made my diagnosis. Here is what I prescribe for the characters:

Dan: NO MORE FRIENDS FOR YOU! You think I didn’t hear you say “love ya” to Nate before you hung up the phone when you called him in front of Jenny? Well I did and that warrants permanent solitary confinement!

Serena: A good beating administered by Lily for mouthing off the way you do. The woman gave you life thus YOU OWE HER YOUR LIFE. Show some respect and leave your cattiness for your peer group because at least then you’re interesting.

Jenny: Go back to real school. You’re only 15 meaning you can’t vote, meaning you’re useless. Get a proper education so you can do something worthwhile for once.

Chuck: CASTRATION because:
A) You didn’t ruin Vanessa like I was hoping you would and
B) You didn’t get with Blair when you had the chance!! (nooooooooo)

Blair: Aw, I can’t get mad at you… I like you too much and you’re too pretty….
just maybe try not to be too desperate for Chuck and be more evil and kniving… ‘kay, hun?

Producers/Scriptwriters/Creative Group for GG: I prescribe a CREATIVE WRITING CLASS so you will STOP RIPPING OFF THE PLOT OF CRUEL INTENTIONS!!
Seriously, you already hinted at it when Chuck and Serena became step-siblings, but Blair’s “evil” plan doesn’t seem so terrible when it’s already been done. Especially when you hinted at Chuck turning good/liking Vanessa. What next? Serena starts doing coke and Blair teaches Jenny how to kiss? I know there were a lot of “great ideas” in that movie but you’re already basing your plot on a set of books so is it too much to ask for a little artistic integrity and innovation? I guess so.

For the readers of the blog: To help fill your daily requirement of humour and ranting read this entry twice a day and comment on the bottom :P

Signed,
Dr. T   :)

Team Chuck ‘Dreamboat’ Bass

Ashley Bartlett – Friday, October 10, 2008 – 1 comment

Well well well… is it any surprise that Chuck Bass can’t get enough of himself? I don’t blame him. After Dan left him vulnerable and weak after his one-time wannabe Bukowski stint, it makes me love Chuck even more; it turns out he actually has a heart! Spotted on set just yesterday looking dapper as always.

Kiss kiss,

AB

“The Queen Bee”

J.Sto – Thursday, October 9, 2008 – 3 comments

There is certainly something very special about Blair Waldorf. Ever since Carrie Bradshaw walked off our TV sets with her Manolos clicking, there has been a big TV fashion icon gap. Blake Lively’s Serena may be the commercial success of the show, with all the teen magazine covers and hair envy, but Leighton Meester has really brought Blair to life. Don’t get me wrong, I love Serena’s style too-in fact, her style is probably more like my own, but Blair packs a little something more in the wardrobe department- she really is the “Queen Bee” of the Upper East Side fashion scene.

With a designer mother, and more money than anyone needs at her finger tips, Blair has as many options as an girl could dream of. Her style is very classic, polished and preppy. She’s sophisticated, but also able to keep her look fun and young. She always looks as if she stepped out of a department store window; her outfit is flawless, and she never has a hair out of place. Blair’s fashion sense is definitely the quintessential upper-east-side stereotype, and she’s not ashamed of it!

No matter how subdued Blair’s outfit may be, she always incorporates a pop of colour in some way. Whether it’s a bright trench coat over a simple dress, a technicolor bag, or orange leggings under her school uniform, Blair gives her look punch with brights.  Her favourite colours are red (her signature), orange, and yellow.

Blair is a total girly-girl at heart, and because of this, she loves to incorporate feminine touches like lace, bows, and ruffles, into her outfits. This is also her go-to look for formal events and parties.

Even when Blair is sleeping, she still looks completely chic! A Waldorf doesn’t wear regular flannel pajamas to bed - she sleeps in a designer negligee. And hanging around the house doesn’t mean wearing sweats! Blair has been known to wear a satin dressing gown instead.

What do you think? Do you love Blair’s style, or are you more of a Serena, Vanessa or Little J?  Leave a comment and discuss.

Spotted: Willful Muse at the Foothills Hospital

Willful Muse – Wednesday, October 8, 2008 – 2 comments

Hey there, Gossip Girl fans. Willful Muse here, with a stroke of unlucky-ness.

I was recently charged into the hospital due to an accident involving my car and another’s. I had a concussion, broken left arm and a broken knee cap. How I managed to survive, I don’t know because the pain would have been unbearable.

But then again, pain killers and other drugs of the sort would definitely lessen the pain caused to my poor pitiful body. I sill have casts on at the moment, and typing with one hand proves to be painstakingly slow, so bear with me.

I’ve missed the last two or three episodes of Gossip Grl to my dismay, but will resume writing about those episodes in one giant post sometime later, as soon as my cast is cut into a small fration and I manage to watch all the episodes I had missed during my awful hospital stay.

What I did hear is that there is an exciting episode of Gossip Girl coming up very soon, if not already. How it will turn out, I have no clue. But I promise to write about it when I see it.

Thanks again for your patience,

Lots of love from the hospital bed,

XOXO,

Willful Muse.

My Gossip Girl Weekend

Taytay – Monday, October 6, 2008 – 1 comment

Hey Guys,

Sorry I didn’t write sooner about last week’s episode but I was following the advice of Dan’s temporary “Mentor” and I was out “experiencing life to develop as a writer.” I would make fun of this old coot more but sadly enough, we’ve all encountered this artsy type in our day-to-day lives - you know, that person who thinks they’re “edgy” by being an alcoholic who reads books whose titles are impressive just so they can use there $10 words in describing their “unique” and “deep” analysis - but I digress…

Anyways, I too, like Dan, decided to spend the weekend with Chuck. I took him to my cousin’s $200,000 wedding since I thought it was to his standards. He was a good company at first - a little uppity though- but after a few drinks he started to unwind; he began to approach the ladies. Things then went downhill when he hit on the bride because he mistook her for a high class prostitute. Fortunately for him, I was there to punch out the groom when he went for Chuck. In jail, however, Chuck’s gratitude turned to anger when he found out I was documenting all of this for my blog! I found it strange that he didn’t see me carrying my laptop around the whole night, furiously typing and muttering to myself that I must find his secrets and exploit him, but I guess that’s what the drugs do to your brain. [See kids, don't be a Jenny, stay in school, don't do drugs!]

Hope you’re all laughing
You know you love me :)
XOXO
Taytay

P.S. for all of you who are a little slower than most, the events and characters described are mostly fictitious =P

Beauty School Dropout

Lima – Wednesday, October 1, 2008 – 1 comment

This week’s episode of Gossip Girl may have actually hit on an important subject- it just happened to be a little buried under all the accusations of “spotlight stealing”.

Little J has decided to take matters into her own hands and pursue a fashion career by dropping out of highschool. I know that the classic response is “stay in school” and legally every minor has to, but how much school is needed? If you already have a passion and the drive to achieve your goals then how important is it to pursue more schooling?

I recalled an article I had read about the ever talented John Mayer where he states that despite his growing up with a high school principal father and a teacher mother, he just went to school to get the whole ordeal over with. Shortly thereafter he dropped out of college to pursue his talents on his own accord. Look at where he is now, several grammy awards and a billion dollars later he’s still keeping his dreams alive.

So- what do our GG readers think? How important is a post secondary education if you’re already passionate and have proven yourself talented at a certain craft? Should little J suffer the perils of high school and all the irrelevant childish in fighting? or should she break out on her own and learn about the business the hard way? starting at the bottom and design her way to the top?

xoxo, L.
