Nate-Jenny smoochfest explained

Nate and Jenny making out

Michael Ausiello of Entertainment Weekly has got the scoop on those scandalous Nate and Jenny pictures that our own J.Sto spotted and posted here last week.

Luckily, one of my moles happened to be at the scene of the Nate-Jenny smoochfest in downtown Manhattan over the weekend, and she filed this exclusive, eyewitness report: “I’m not entirely sure how the scene fits into the episode, but Jenny was storming out of a club with Nate chasing behind. It was hard to hear what they were saying (bunch of damn mumblers), but Jenny was uber-pissed at Nate, Nate tried to reassure her, Jenny kissed him once and turned to run away, and then he grabbed her arm, turned her around, and the making out commenced. That was about it.”

The third episode of Season Two is in the books and here’s a list of the music that served as the soundtrack to our favorite characters’ shenanigans in the shadows.

  1. Santogold - Lights Out
  2. The 88 - It’s a Lot
  3. The Fashion - Like Knives
  4. Manchester Orchestra - I Can Feel a Hot One
  5. Ne-Yo - Closer

If you can identify any other songs played during last night’s episode, just leave a comment and we’ll add them to the list.

All that is Dark comes to Light

A city wide blackout doesn’t seem to deter any scandal from rising to the top- in fact, all the darkness does, is bring things to light.

The lusty B discovers that propriety has its place, unfortunately that place is no where near the bedroom. Enter the crafty, if a little “frustrated”, Mr. Bass whose clearly been practicing his British accent! But what about the Duke…will he ever take the plunge?

The Duchess proves to be quite the masterful trickster, she even makes B look slightly amateur. The Duchess knows that some information needs to stay in the dark… and that’s her ticket to keeping Nate on a very short leash.

Alas, is it truly the end for S and lonely boy? While the light may shine on their love, it also shows how different their worlds truly are…but will love conquer all…again?

As the lights start to spark all over New York, Lonely boy lends support to his dear friend, lonely girl! The beautiful Vanessa finally eats her words, and understands what her good friend was so wrapped up in the season before…turns out the Upper East Side isn’t the simplest place to figure out … especially not in the dark.

Absolutely terrible.

I’m sorry to say it, but last night’s episode of Gossip Girl was the worst one I have ever seen.

From giving the episode a product placement title to the consistent subliminal plugging of Vitamin Water and Ashley Tisdale’s “Picture This” phone to the crappy, unoriginal story line, “Dark Night” was just terrible.

Alright, when Blair’s new fling’s deep dark secret was that he was “British and a Lord” (*gasp*) in the first episode I was amused. When the second episode had nothing to really talk about - I was patient and just grateful for the t.v. fix. But when they start showing 12-year-old’s dressing up as the “older kids” in a weak attempt to reach out to the show’s demographic thinly veiled by what the producers thought was “humour”, I just felt sick.

A blackout? Really? Now that’s an original way to catalyze character development. It’s way more original than locking your characters into enclosed spaces, like I don’t know, closets or some mode of elevating transportation so that their relationships can evolve…oh wait…

At least we know that in the next few episodes we can enjoy Dan and Serena’s mindless droning about their feelings or whatever it is they talk about to their friend’s and family (who really don’t care but nod and smile and spout just as much B.S. - yes I’m talking about you Rufus) and Jenny can become the successful 14-year-old she wants to be even though the past three episodes have been about her overcoming the oh-so mean and heartless people of the fashion industry that admire her spunk…how many more of these stories will they be able to churn out? I bet three.

It’s lucky that Nate is pretty. Like Vanessa I can look past his man-whoring and just stare at him instead of paying attention to his “cougar pleasuring” in between all his terrible family troubles - you know, appreciate him for what he really is…eye candy.

As for Blair, Chuck and “The Lord”. 10 bucks says Marcus is a homosexual and Chuck will reject Blair again when she goes back to him only to realize two episodes later that he really does love her but will have to steal her away from a Chinese Emperor who was pretending to be an ESL exchange student going to MIT next year.

The only good thing about this episode was the fact that we could hear Ed Westwick’s (Chuck’s) natural British accent.

I don’t know if I love it

Holy Crap!

ShorStar – Monday, September 15, 2008 – Leave a comment

Ahh, it has been so long! Hello!!!

Excuse the title of this blog…I honestly can’t think of anything better because the first thought I had after episode three was…”Holy Crap”. Sooooo much unfolded in this episode and most definitely set the path for whats to come this season. As also, juicy and scandalous…lets dig deeper, shall we?

I know I mentioned in a previous blog that I was against the reuniting of Dan and Serena…I still stand by that, however it was painful to see them break up (again) the way they did. It was really powerful (as cheeseball as that may sound). *sigh*

The Chuck, Blair, Lord scenario is utterly fantastic! The love triangle ordeal is just so bizarre, it is obviously difficult to see Chuck so dramatic and *ahem* down over Blair…when usually he is all over anything that moves, swooning over anything looking remotely female, but…yikes. It’s hard to deny the fact that Blair and Chuck have some really steamy chemistry. Not only that but the choice of lighting and the actual thought put into the sets for each scene really increase the intensity of the moment with Blair and Chuck. I dig it!

The lord is sweet and all but are any of you really buying into this whole ‘thing..with the lord’. Blair and Chuck need to stop being silly and just “do it”

Finally…Nate, Catherine, and Vanessa. So much heartbreak in one episode! I don’t know what killed me more, Serena and Dan, or Vanessa telling Dan about that INSANE dutchess and her feelings for Nate. I have never been a huge fan of Vanessa, but she touched my heart in this episode! On to Catherine…she is truly a nutbar! What is up with her creepy ‘I want to be with the under age kid and I am blackmailing him for sex’…eeek! This lady is going to keep the devious behaviour going for some pretty scandalous episodes!

I apologize if this sort of turned into a recap. Truth be told, I am still processing it all. I am so amped for the next epsiode…this show is genius!

I leave you with this,

love may fade with the season, but some friendships are year round
like you and me, you know you love me

Dark Night

Hey fans - episode 3 of course did not disappoint! Tenions between our favorite UES kids escalated like a summer heat wave. Unfortunately, what seems so clear by day quickly turns to shadow at night.  An ever-hopeful Dan and Serena, desperate to hold onto their blissful ignorance, finally fall apart in a sweaty locked elevator.  Dapper Dan is both simultaneously giddy and repulsed that he’s making it with Manhattan’s IT girl - it’s all good when they’re lip-locked and laughing, but when he actually has to spend a few minutes with her in a confined space he attempts to throw himself down an elevator shaft. Ah, young love - who hasn’t been here before?  Ironically, it’s the Queen B. of Shallow Relationships who predicts the inevitable split right to S.’s face (what are friends for, of course!) - too bad she can’t do the same for her own desperate love life.  It’s obvious that Serena and Dan have to get serious and put their differences to bed (figuratively and literally) or just move on already - I don’t know if Jenny can handle them dumping each other every 47 minutes.

I’ve decided that Chuck’s pursual of B. is much more interesting.  This dance between them - Chuck as the high-school playboy and Blair as the manipulative social climber - that started late last season has now grown into a dynamic that is all at once comedic, tragic and romantic.  For all the head games both like to play their passions for each other might just be the most authentic of the group, and it shows.  Chuck is enthralled by the nearly out of reach B., and the glimpses of himself that he sees in her. Blair of course is both flattered by his claims of love and reformed sexual adventurousness, but just can’t allow herself to follow her passion instead of her pocketbook. Just when I thought they had things locked up at the end of the episode, courtesy of the Duke’s implied gayness, he goes and gets a bout of heterosexiness and wrecks it all.  Of course this doesn’t change anything for Chuck - the more unattainable B. becomes the more he falls for her, but I am curious to see how long his vow of chastity lasts!

laters,

GGuy

Wallace Shawn ie Cyrus Rose

Wallace Shawn ie Cyrus Rose

Apparently Cyrus (future husband to Eleanor Waldorf, according to the books) and Aaron (his son) are going to make their debut in Gossip Girl’s second season! And who will be playing them? Wallace Shawn (The Princess Bride, Clueless) will play Cyrus and gorgeous John Patrick Amedori (Stick It) will be playing Aaron. But there’s more!

According to my sources, Aaron will be Serena’s new boyfriend? This I’ve got to see! You know what else I have to see? Blair’s reaction to having foolish Cyrus as a step-father!

Stay tuned, people!

Spotted: Nate Archibald, Mid-Makeout

J.Sto – Sunday, September 14, 2008 – 3 comments

Nate Archibald was seen making out with a hot blonde on set in an upcoming episode. Who, you ask? No, it’s not his old flame Serena, my friends. You’ll never believe it! Could that really be Little J. with her arms wrapped around him?

Is there a girl on the Upper East Side that N. won’t lock lips with before the end of season two?

What are your thoughts on this potential plot twist and upcoming storyline?

Traveling Pants Feud! Ugly Betty Hates Gossip Girl

Harsh D – Saturday, September 13, 2008 – Leave a comment

America Ferrera from Ugly BettyThis just in… CAT FIGHT!

Ugly Betty star America Ferrera harsh dissed Gossip Girl in a Seventeen Magazine interview, stating that Gossip Girl is the worst show of all time and that she wouldn’t even let a TV-starved kid from Nunavut watch it.

Alright, maybe that’s an exaggeration but supposedly she said other stuff about how Gossip Girl teaches teenage girls the wrong values and that the girls in the show (and all girls in real life) should stop being so mean to each other.

Meh.

Chace Crawford to be New Male Face of Versace?

Harsh D – Friday, September 12, 2008 – 3 comments

Chace Crawford at GQ PartySo word on the street is that Gossip Girl’s own Chace Crawford is in negotiations to become Versace’s new male face in 2009.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with their current face, Patrick Dempsey. Maybe the Versace folks think he’s so old he has to put his junk in the freezer just to get it hard (thanks, I’ll be at the Laugh Factory all week).

Whatever the reason, this deal has the potential to launch Gossip Girl’s popularity into the stratosphere.

Crawford vs. Dempsey: What do GG fans think?
